While at my time at California Baptist University, we had a semester-long course in which we are required to create a passion project. I decided to create a online shop called Not A Fan where I designed several retro-inspired posters that varies from music, TV shows, and movies.
Because I'm a huge fan of movies, TV shows, and music, I wanted to create that as a passion project! However, I love when the designs are subtle and look aesthetically pleasing, so I hoped to do that for everyone through this project.
It is called Not A Fan because, ironically, it is for fans of movies, TV shows, and music!
At the beginning of the project, I started with branding the store! I wanted the logo to be fun and energetic like when you watch your favorite movie or when something exciting happens in a film! I explored different fonts and colors. I ended up creating the official logo but after some deliberation from my class and my professor and after looking how the logo looks on the posters, I decided to go a different direction and ended up with what's down below!
After creating the official logo, I immediately started sketching some poster concepts and picked which ones I thought was best! It was so much fun getting to create posters based off of people's favorite moments in tv shows and movies or even music.
Down below is some of my inspo for the posters!
Here were the first five posters I made for the store! As you can see, I wanted to make sure there were a variety of posters from the get go arranging from sitcoms, to movie musicals to even iconic Star Wars Characters.
To help promote the shop I created a Instagram page and a TikTok page where I could interact with people and show how the posters are made! Down below is a TikTok video where I show how I made the WandaVision poster!
Down below is the rest of the posters I made including the WandaVision poster!
My plan was that with every purchase, they would get a free sticker as well so here is a picture of the stickers down below!
After realizing the cost of creating an Etsy shop and printing the posters, I realized I couldn't afford to continue the project during the summer of 2023! However, it was such a great experience learning how to create my shop, and I always hope to launch it one day officially, but I'm glad with what I've created so far!
